Meet Dolly and her best friend, Charlotte! They live in a very special home in Arktopia County. Their house has a high, curved ceiling like a giant tunnel. Charlotte is a clever dog with one blue eye and one brown eye. She follows Dolly everywhere she goes!
Every Friday, Dolly and Charlotte go on a big adventure in their truck. They visit the local grocery stores to pick up "rescued" food. These are yummy things like apples, bananas, and bread that the stores can't sell anymore. "We have a big delivery today, Charlotte!" Dolly says with a smile.
When they get back to Arkatype Farms, the animals are already waiting at the fence. Dolly’s friends, Arthur and Sterling, are there to help too. "Is everyone ready?" Dolly asks. "The animals are very hungry, and we have a very special plan for lunch today!"
It’s time for the "Five-Star Farm Dinner!" Dolly and her friends put on their fancy white waiter jackets and black bow ties. They want the farm animals to feel like they are dining at the fanciest restaurant in the world. Arthur and Sterling work together to get the dining room ready in the field.
Arthur carries a silver tray out to the first table. "Good evening, Sir Pig," Arthur says with a polite bow. He serves a wooden bowl filled with sweet strawberries and sliced bananas. The pigs lean in, sniffing the delicious fruit with their pink snouts.
At the next table, a friend named Mara is waiting for the cats. She serves them small plates of tasty fish and meat. The cats are very polite. They sit on little wooden chairs, waiting for their meal just like people do at a real restaurant!
Sterling is in charge of the chicken's table. He sprinkles golden grains and fresh green lettuce onto their plates. "A little more corn for the lady?" Sterling asks. The chickens cluck with joy! They think the service at Arkatype Farms is the best in the county.
Charlotte trots around the tables to make sure every animal is happy. She even wears a little black bow tie on her collar! Charlotte is the farm's "Maître d'." That is a very fancy word for the person in charge of the whole dining room.
Dolly smiles as she watches the animals enjoy their feast. Helping the earth by using rescued food makes her feel good. Making it a fancy party makes everyone—the people and the animals—extra happy! "Everyone has a full belly," Dolly whispers to Charlotte.
As the sun begins to set over Arktopia County, the restaurant closes for the night. The waiters take off their jackets, and the animals go back to the barn to sleep. Dolly and Charlotte head back to their cozy, arched home, dreaming of next week's big dinner.
